RCX - Ponmona, CA Recap

2009 RCX was another good learning experience for me. The event wasn't too crazy/hectic like how it was last year but it was fun. The fun came from the guys I went down with; Ryan, Pete, Jaime, Ray and Jacob. It was more of a vacation for everybody and we were able to walk around the expo and see different types of r/c racing and other types of R/C.

On Saturday, our first and second qual. Our cars were working good but the traffic wasn't very cooperative with us that threw us off specially Jaime who almost didn't make it to the main because of the traffic and that noone was calling out the race. They had the automated Giro-z call out the race. With that, noone was moving out of the way for no body...

On Sunday, the last qualifier. Everyone's car was pretty much dialed with the exception of Ryan's who had to drive his back up car due to his primary car not running properly. It was probably because of the traction given from the RCP track that was used for this event. However on this day, my car was running at its best. No traffic, no tweak, no traction roll, just perfect! I was able to drop back to back fast laps of the day at 9.18 and a consistent run of 9.2-9.3 until....... the damn ASF lost its bind. After being on the track for 5 mins the tx/rx just lost it's bind that I had to walk up to the turnmarshall and help him shut my car down and turn it back on... After that, the car was fine again and continued on my race to which I was still able to get 3rd in position but 3 laps down from the 1st.

All of us from N. Cal was able to make it to the A-main. Everything was good and all went well. No hacking, traffic, etc... Although None of us from N. Cal took the 1st, it was still a good learning experience for everyone. See you all at the Worlds!
