Prep before the race

1. discharge and charger your practice cells (2-4 packs)
2. discharge and charge 2x race packs, bring 2x discharged cells at the race and charge it there.

Both of my practice and race cells are "matched". This is the only reason why I use ice charger. I don't use my ice if my cells are not matched because it false peaks sometimes.

3. rebuild your ball differential and make sure that everything is nice and smooth, especially your thrust bearing. Replace if needed.

4. Clean all your bearings and make sure all of them are smooth and free of any dirt. if it feels gritty, clean it with motor cleaner. If it's still gritty, replace it. Bearings are pretty cheap. I recommend using a new set for big event races.

5. If you already know the pinion to use judging by the size of the track and the motor, replace your practice pinion with brand new once. Their cheap!

6. Usually I don't have to replace my spur since PN's spur last forever. I just make sure that it's clean inside and out before I put my diff together.
7. Install your preferred tire/s on a rim. In this case I chose PN6's as it is my fav race tires. No need to glue PN6's, it is hard with rounded side wall.

8. Clean and check damper plate system. Make sure that the disc on the damper is not too loose or too tight. Loose= bouncy rear end. Tight= tweak feel or sluggish rear end. Also, check the damper post. They tend to have a groove mark on them from the disc. Replace it before the race if there's groove on it.
9. Make sure the motor wires are not too short or too long. I usually replace mine to new once before the race because sometimes old wires are only holding off by couple of strands and it is not visible to naked eyes.

10. Clean the battery tabs on the chassis and then pull it out a little bit.
11. Dust off the steering servo. No need to take the entire servo apart. Just get a low pressure air can spray and spray the servo gears and board while at it. Since you're here, you might as well do a quick check on the board and make sure that everything is clean and together like the ASF antenna wire.
12. torque down all the screws on the chassis and put lock tight on some of them like dds top screw. Don't over tighten screws.
Good luck and have fun!
